The Center for the Transformation of Chemistry (CTC) is at the forefront of integrating cutting-edge chemistry with real life applications. While we are dedicated to ground-breaking fundamental research, we would like to integrate business know-how into project planning at an early stage and drive entrepreneurship in science. As part of our goals, we are seeking highly motivated Business Managers (m/f/d) to join our team. These positions are crucial for the research program development and selection strategies in our thematic areas: Automation & Standardization, Data-driven Chemistry, Recycling, Renewable Feedstocks, and Societal-Environmental-Economic Metrics. Located approximately 30 minutes from Leipzig and Halle (Saale) in Leuna, you will have the opportunity to play a role in transforming chemistry with your business acumen.

Your tasks and qualifications

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct market analysis to determine the business potential of topics in each of the thematic areas.
  • Collaborate with scientists to develop performance metrics and identify unique economic selling points.
  • Build and expand a network of key business partners, focusing on the integration of production, supply and value chains in topic selection.
  • Organize and facilitate workshops to foster collaboration between business units and academic researchers.
  • Collect, analyze, and report business-relevant information, contributing to the CTC's tech transfer concept.
  • Lead efforts in supply and value chain analysis, partner network expansion, expertise and personnel identification, and potential for patents, licenses, and business models for startups.


Your profile

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Business/Economics, or Marketing.
  • Proven experience in market analysis, business model development, and partnership building.
  • Understanding of the chemical market and the ability to work closely with chemists and data scientists.
  • Professionalism in industry collaboration, with a strong commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
